During July of 2013 I helped coordinate the Fill a 50 event at Bill Colwell Ford. During the month we collected items to give to Give2TheTroops, which is a non-profit organization that sends care packages to deployed United States Troops. We asked the Cedar Valley to help us help our troops by bringing in those items. Our hope was to fill the bed of an F-150 or Fill a 50. For each item that someone brought in, they were entered in a drawing to win a grill and accessories.

Some of the items in high demand included beef jerky, coffee, sunflower seeds, and baby wipes. We promoted this event through local media and mainly through social media posts. Each week we would post special sales going on in local stores so customers could easily find those needed items at the most affordable cost. Overall, it was a great success and we collected 581 items totaling more than 250 pounds for the troops!
